about
September" anticipates our first album.
This is a love song, but it is about other people's love. It's a song about that happiness that doesn't happen to you: not easy, it could break your heart in pain or anger. Or..That happiness could fill you up, even if it isn't yours. Just knowing that happiness exists for someone it's a good reason to be happy or try to be.
It has been the first song to lead us to think all of this could make sense. I've been keeping this lyrics for years, waiting for the right music to come. Written in one go, after the darkest months, the day I figured out everything was gonna be Ok.
In my pocket, I had a plane ticket that made me feel such a feeling of lightness, after a long time. That plane ticket brought me in the perfect place, with the perfect friend by my side, to regain my pure love for life.
I was able to stand straight on my feet again. I was able to walk again. I was me again.
When I came home, I mustered my strenght and I broke into the golden bubble of light I had decided I deserved.
That's the way it works: you could sit down counting all the teardrops you should cry and you'll find a lot of them for sure, or you could stand up and run grateful towards the smiles that still have to esplode on your face..And you'll find a lot of them for sure.
From then on, it won't all go perfectly.."Teardrops here and there but nevermind".
lyrics
I opened up my eyes this morning
and the autumn fell down over me
My skin is weirded out about this cool, cool breeze
still covered with sand and salt and sea
I promised to my eyes a place they’ve seen before
lately, more than ever, I’ve been lost
maybe that’s my chance to find my way back home
I have a flight to catch and no regrets
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to hold each other’s hand?
May your foolish heart always remind
resounding endless echoes of happiness you heard
teardrops here and there, but never mind
September’s almost over and it was dressed in white
a long, long train of music, leaves and thoughts
October, my old friend, your flaming sunsets here they come
my red coat smells of months spent in the dark
You were surrounded by the light, my dear
and by your grace I’ve always loved so much
you smiled the way I’d never seen you smile before
but with those same old naughty eyes of yours
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to hold each other’s hand?
May your foolish heart always remind
resounding endless echoes of happiness you heard
teardrops here and there, but never mind
You took her hand right in the proper way
and all around the air shimmered and glowed
looking at each other as we dream to be looked at
and what you’ve seen can not even be guessed
Fingers crossed on neverending dreams
and all you know to make sense of it all
is that when the hearts of the ones you love is full
it ends up to refill your heart as well
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to hold each other’s hand?
May your foolish heart always remind
resounding endless echoes of happiness you heard
teardrops here and there, but never mind

MOAI is a seven-piece indie folk band.
Their original songs find their roots in the folk American songwriting tradition,
independently explored to find the most intense and genuine sound. The result is a marriage of music that combines a modern language with free creativity, giving space to explosive roots-rock, acoustic ballads with an Irish flavour and moments of pure musical improvisation....more
